Karen Bystedt, who has made a career of photographing actors like Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves and Johnny Depp when they were still just pretty mugs knocking on the doors of Hollywood, had perhaps her most career-making encounter when she was still a student at New York University.
In 1982, Karen Bystedt, a 19-year-old NYU student, cold-called Andy Warhol at his studio in Union Square and asked if she could photograph him.

On June 11, Bystedt, a photographer, exhibited Lost Warhols: The Bare Images. It was a gallery show of her unique portraits of Andy Warhol, at Guerilla Atelier at 427 S. Hewitt St. in downtown Los Angeles.
It all started with a cold call to the man himself, and its now turned into @karenbystedt’s collaborative photo tribute exhibit called “Warhol Lives”.
